Dr Fiona Wu graduated with the degrees of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the National University of Singapore (NUS). After which, she obtained a surgical fellowship with the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh in 2008. After completing her Masters of Medicine (Surgery) in 2010, she joined the National University Hospital Singapore (NUHS) and started her training in the field of Urology. She received her Specialist Accreditation in Urology in 2015. She has completed her fellowship in Female and Reconstructive Urology at the University of Bern, Switzerland, in 2016.

In NUHS, she served in the female, functional and reconstructive subspecialty and was in charge of bringing new treatments and technology for patients in NUH, Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH) and Alexandra Hospital.

She was awarded the AMDA (Academic Medicine Development Award) for fellowship training in Bern in 2016. She was under the tutelage of world-renowned reconstructive surgeons at University of Bern, Inselspital in Switzerland. During her tenure, she was exposed to challenging surgeries and complex cases which furthered her practice.

Prior to her private practice, Dr Fiona Wu spent 15 years in public service. She was a Consultant in the Department of Urology at National University Hospital (NUH), Alexandra Hospital and Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. Dr Wu has special interests in the field of Female Urology, Neuro-urology And Reconstructive Urology.

Her clinical interests include treating incontinence in a holistic way using minimally invasive methods. She worked closely with the gynaecology and colorectal departments to treat complex pelvic floor conditions and continues to do so in her own practice.

Dr Fiona Wu is also the Programme Director of Surgery-In-Training at NUH and part of the core faculty of Urology Residency during her service at NUH. She is actively involved in educating junior urologists and helping them in their training and is a core faculty member of postgraduate junior doctors.

Dr Fiona Wu is passionate about undergraduate and postgraduate education. She was a core faculty member for Urology and the Programme Director for Surgery-In-General in the University Surgical Cluster. She won the NUHS Teaching Excellence Awards from 2019 to 2021.

Her academic pursuits led to her publishing several urological papers in international journals on a wide range of topics within the realm of urology. Her active involvement in international collaborative studies with overseas urologists also led to more publications in high-impact journals.

Urological Society Involvement
She is a member of the Singapore Urological Association (SUA), International Urogynecological Association (IUGA) and International Continence Society (ICS). She actively serves as the Treasurer of the Society for Continence Singapore (SFCS), where she also held the appointment of Vice President prior. She continues to organise seminars for the public and nurses in Singapore, recently expanding their reach to regional countries.

She also helps organise symposiums for doctors and public forums as well as urological courses. She was also an exco member of SUA (Singapore Urological Association 2021-2022) and was in charge of organising the annual local urological symposium for 2022. She was a member of IUGA 2021 Singapore organising committee and was involved in the moderation of this international conference.

She is often invited as a speaker and moderator for local urological and regional conferences, usually on the topics of incontinence, urinary tract infections and voiding dysfunction. She is passionate about treating these conditions and has attended courses and seminars as often as she can.

Although urinary issues are common, they are not often talked about. Having built Aare Urocare as a one-stop incontinence centre, Dr Fiona Wu is a firm advocate that bladder conditions are very treatable under the right care and actively shares her knowledge with various media platforms.

Dr Wu has been invited on television shows such as Channel 5’s Let’s Talk About Health, and radio interviews with Violet Fenying and Kenneth Kong on LOVE972《最爱粉Tastic》to raise awareness on urological conditions and the various treatments available. Dr Fiona Wu has also been featured in various print publications such as Expat Living and health care magazines PRIME and Global Health Asia-Pacific.

Aare Urocare was also awarded Female Urology Centre of the Year Asia-Pacific 2022.
